Mission Ministry Team

The Mission Team primary goal is to reach out to serve at the local, national, and international level supporting those who are in need of love and support.

We are involved in a variety of causes:

Locally

Through direct support of the Lockport FISH pantry, the Christmas Projects supporting locally needy families with gifts, Holiday Hat, Mitten and Scarf tree, Annual CROP Walk, serve monthly meals at Morning Star Mission, Thanksgiving Baskets to the needy, and Annual Blood Drives.

Nationally and Internationally

We are strong supporters of the wider ministries of the United Church of Christ supporting OCWM (Our Church’s Wider Mission). We are proud to say we supporters of OCWM’s 5 for 5 ministries!

WIDER MISSION AND MINISTRY 5 for 5 missions are:

We are part of the United Church of Christ (UCC) domination. Our donation is pooled with other churches in our organization which can be used +more effectively at the state, national, or international levels.

One Great Hour of Sharing

One Great Hour of Sharing is a non-profit, ecumenical ministry that provides for the needy all over the world. It represents the disaster relief, refugee response, and long-term development work of ten Protestant denominations. Most of the focus is overseas, but it also recognizes and supports similar needs in the U.S. www.ucc.org/oghs.

Strengthen the Church

Strengthen the Church is an all-church "thank offering" to support church growth and leadership development in the conferences and national bodies of the UCC. This offering is received at Pentecost. www.ucc.org/stc.

Christmas Fund / Pastor’s Discretionary Fund

Veterans of the Cross is a collection that supports retired ministers to help provide pension supplements, health premium subsidies, emergency assistance to active or retired clergy families. This Christmas gift checks is given to hundreds of retirees and to those who disabled.

As part of this collection we give to the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund which is an emergency fund to used by the Pastor to supplies emergency food and supplies to people in need. www.ucc.org.

MOMENTS FROM MISSION

Once a month during Sunday worship we educate the congregation about our current mission project through an announcement called “Moments from Mission”. Here we communicate the latest information regarding the current mission as well as who will benefit from the project, when the collection is due and how much we were able to financially support the previous project.
